Just because you can find Tex-Mex and BBQ on virtually every corner of Houston doesn’t mean you should make these places a regular part of your diet.

According to a recent study, by the year 2040 roughly 20% of Houstonians will be diagnosted with diabetes.

While this is startling news, its also something that can be completely avoided with planning.

In this guide, we will connect you with health care agencies who can help you come up with a plan to effectively manage your diabetes (if you have it) or avoid it all together.

Whether you are looking for a medical provider to treat your diabetes or you simply need education to understand the condition you wil find both below.

Conclusion

What is the trap?

In hip-hop there is a term called “the trap”.

The trap is essentially a dilapidated house in the middle of the ghetto where illegal activities like drug use and prostitution occur.

The reason this home is called  a trap is because that’s exactly what it is. If you remain in this environment long enough you could will start to condone or worse partake in this behavior which results in you becoming trapped.

It’s not hyperbole to say that in regards to diabetes the city of Houston is one big trap.

While many of the most accessible foods in this city are delicious, they also contain high amounts of sodium, saturated fats and cholesterol.  If this becomes part of your normal diet it can easily turn into diabetes. And it happening to many Houstonians.

In addition to avoding fatty foods, the fact that this city is not walkable, leads to less exercise.

If you’re reading this theres a good chance you live outside the 610 loop. Maybe even Beltway 8 or the Grand Parkway.  While that long coummute doesn’t guarantee you’ll have health problems, it does increase your chances.

We are living in a trap and if unchecked it could lead to chronic conditions like diabetes.
