This video will explain how to tell which energy drinks you can buy with food stamps and which energy drinks are not allowed for purchase. You'll learn whether or not you can buy 5 -Hour Energy Drinks with your food stamp benefits or whether you can purchase Monster Energy Drinks or Red Bull with SNAP benefits.
An easy way to tell is by looking at the back of the bottle. The bottle will either read "nutrition facts" or "supplement facts". Nutrition facts are considered food items that you can buy with SNAP benefits. The Supplement facts on the other hand are not food items according to the USDA so you cannot purchase these items with food stamps.
**Editor's Note** While you can purchase Monster or Red Bull with food stamps, you should be warned of the health risks. According to the CDC excessive use of energy drinks can lead to dehydration, heart complications, anxiety, or insomnia. You can learn more about those health risks here (or by speaking to your doctor): https://www.cdc.gov/healthyschools/nutrition/energy.htm
