How The City of Houston DAWN Program Works

Houston is a foodie’s dream come true.

Unlimited options of world-class BBQ, burgers, and Tex-Mex can serve as both a gift and a curse.

When you eat these things in moderation it’s no big deal. When you “eat good” every day is when it can become problematic.

Roughly 29 million people or 9% of Americans have a diagnosis of diabetes. If you are African-American, Hispanic or American Indian you are twice as likely to have it as someone who is caucasian. The bottom line is diabetes is a huge problem.

Despite the staggering stats, diabetes is a condition that you can control if you are educated.

One program that wants to ensure you are properly managing diabetes is the City of Houston DAWN Program.

In this guide, we’ll tell you all about the DAWN Program. Once you finish reading this guide you will know the following:

  • What DAWN Program does

Conclusion

We’re from Texas just like you, so on occasion, we too fall victim to destroying a BIG plate of ribs with baked beans and macaroni.

At the same time there comes a point where we all have to educate ourselves about the things we are eating and how it’s affecting our health.

If you are a type 2 diabetic who is uncertain of the type of foods that SHOULD be in your diet, the program can definitely help you.

For more information on how they can help you to become more healthy, more energetic and live longer, visit their Third Ward location or call them at 832.393.4055.
