Contact the El Paso County Clerk’s Office for Your Birth Certificate

To request your El Paso birth certificate, you will have to visit the El Paso County Clerk’s office. There are three offices: Downtown, Northeast, and Ysleta Annex office.

Both the Northeast and Ysleta Annex offices are currently open on a walk-in basis for issuing El Paso Birth and Death Certificates. The downtown office is open for walk-ins and appointments. For more information on appointments, read below. 

How Much Does an El Paso Birth Certificate Cost?

The cost of an El Paso birth certificate is $23. If you need an extra copy of your El Paso county birth certificate, this will be an additional $4.

There are multiple payment methods at the El Paso County Clerk’s Office: 

  • Cash (does not include foreign currency)
  • A credit or debit card in your name (with an additional $1.95 convenience fee for anything less than $87.00, and a 2.25% convenience fee for anything more than $87.00)

How to Obtain a Birth Certificate if You Were Born in El Paso County Texas 

There are two ways you can request and obtain your El Paso Birth Certificate: online or in person. 

In-person

To get your birth certificate in person, you can visit any three offices mentioned without an appointment (walk-in). For faster service, you can schedule an appointment for the Downtown office through the Appointment Scheduler

For appointments, please note the following:

  • To maintain facility capacity and social distancing, we only allow limited appointments..
  • Face masks are required to enter the building.
  • Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your appointment.
  • As a courtesy to others, the County Clerk’s office reserves the right to cancel your appointment if you are more than 10 minutes late. If your appointment is canceled, you will have to reschedule it through the Appointment Scheduler.

Online

To get your birth certificate online, you must place your order through Vitalchek.

For both in-person and online requests, follow these steps:

  1. Fill out the Application for Birth or Death Record at the County Clerk’s Office. 
  2. Present Valid ID. 
  3. Place your request
