Most of the low-cost clinics operate on what they call a  “sliding scale”.  The clinic will perform an eligibility assessment to see where you fall on that scale.

Where is there a low cost or free dental clinic for homeless adults in the Southwest
Houston area such as in zip code 77063 or nearby?
Also, can a homeless person get a low cost health insurance policy for health care?
Can they get Medicaid or another program available?

    • Nick Bryant Post authorReply

Hi Betty, the best bet is Healthcare for the Homeless for dental, especially if they want to see a dentist soon. This clinic is however located in downtown Houston. There hours seem to have changed due to COVID but you can call for a dental emergency (713) 286-6140. https://www.homeless-healthcare.org/

The Harris Health Gold Card might be an option also. With that, they’d have access to the Harris Health Dental clinics which one I believe is located in SW Houston. In addition to the dental, they’ll also get access to medical treatment near 77063. Try Healthcare for Homeless if they need a dentist soon, because Gold Card process typically takes a few weeks if someone isnt prepared w all the required paperwork. To get Gold Card they would have to either print/mail an application or visit a Harris Health Eligibility Center to complete one. This seems to be the closest to that area at Lois J. Moore Eligibility Center, 8901-B Boone Road, Houston, TX 77099 – 713.566.6509.

For more info on applying for Gold Card you can go here https://houstoncasemanagers.com/how-to-apply-for-harris-health-gold-card/

      Hope that helps you!

Hello can someone tell me where I can find a dental clinic that accepts United Healthcare Chronic Complete Ally HMO-POS plan? Please help! My mom needs to go to a dentist. Thanks.

Two suggestions: one start by contacting the customer service on back of her insurance card. They will let you know exactly which dentists in Houston except her coverage. You can also find any dentist office on this list that you would like her to visit and then call the number on back of her insurance card and see if those dentist offices are listed in her united healthcare network.
