How Can A Homeless Person Get An ID In San Antonio Texas?

To get an ID if you are homeless in San Antonio you can contact the following nonprofits: 

  • Christian Assistance Ministry
  • SA Hope Center

  • Corazon Day Center

Christian Assistance Ministry

Christian Assistance Ministry (CAM) offers an ID assistance program in San Antonio Texas. They assist clients with obtaining Birth Certificates and Texas IDs.

In addition, they can also offer you a homeless mailbox in San Antonio to allow you to receive mail from Social Security or your doctor.

Services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis (first 15 clients) on the following days: 

  • Monday – Thursday – 9:30 am to 3:00 pm
  • Friday – 9:30 am – 11:30 am

SA Hope Center

Are you in San Antonio, Texas, and in need of ID and Birth Certificate Recovery services? SA Hope Center can help.

If you have lost your ID card or have recently been released from prison, they can help you to get a new ID or birth certificate.

For more information, you can contact 210.732.3776 or 210-271-2704. The ID recovery hours are on Monday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. Services are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The SA Hope Center is located Downtown at First Presbyterian Church, 404 N Alamo St, San Antonio, TX 78205.

You can also visit their main campus located at 321 General McMullen, San Antonio, TX 78237, during their regular hours of operation from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

SAPD HOPE Team (Homeless ID Assistance San Antonio) 

The San Antonio Police Department has a special program called the HOPE Team (Homeless Outreach Positive Encounters). They provide supportive services to homeless individuals in San Antonio, like ID recovery services. In order to get assistance obtaining an ID, you need to be referred to them by your case manager.

St. Mary’s University School of Law (ID Recovery Bexar County Texas)

Another way to get help obtaining a lost ID in San Antonio is through a law school like St. Mary’s University School of Law. They offer a ID recovery program that helps homeless individuals in San Antonio to get their state ID, birth certificate, Social Security card, marriage license, and more. 

To get assistance you will need to call The Center for Legal and Social Justice at 210.431.2596. They are located at 2507  NW 36th Street, San Antonio, TX 78228, but they do not accept walk-in appointments. 

San Antonio Library (Enhanced Library Card) 

When trying to prove your identity, every photo ID card you can find helps. Even a library card. 

The San Antonio Public Library offers something called an Enhanced Libardy Card that can be used to help you obtain your lost Texas ID or birth certificate. This library card is a picture ID that you can use to prove your identitify and help you obtain those missing ID’s that you need. 

To get a San Antonio Enhanced Library identification card you will need to visit one of the following locations:

The case management team at Corazon Day center can also help you connect to other supportive services like medical care, housing, substance abuse programs and more.

Bexar County ID Recovery

Relection International Ministries is another nonprofit that can help you obtain a Texas ID, Social Security card, or birth certificate.
