If You Cannot Get The Option To Replace Your Texas Food Stamp Card, Do This…

Some people have noticed that they don’t give you the option to replace the card right away. I’ve gotten to that option to replace a missing food stamp card by:

1. Pressing 2 when they offer the “Access your card account for balance, transactions, or other account information” option.
2. When they ask for the 19-digit code, I press 0 one time and wait…
3. After pressing 0 they will state “invalid entry, to enter your 19-digit card number, press 1 to report your card lost or stolen press 2”. I then press 2 and they proceed to transfer you to a live person.

It’s not a straightforward process, but that’s how I get to that option to replace your Texas EBT card.

I called the 18007777328 for lost food stamp card there is no option for LOST CARD

    • Nick Bryant Post authorReply

Hi Gregory hope all is well. It should be option 2 when calling. If your Texas EBT card is lost you’ll want to report that to the Lone Star help desk and they will cancel that card so no one uses your benefits and send you a replacement card in about 7 days.

That has been the problem for a long time. The representatives don’t know the correct number either.

Option 2 asks for the 16 digit number for the lost card. How is a person supposed to recall a 16 digit number, with no other option available just to replace the card?
I just want a replacement card and not another heart attack.

I know the frustration AJ. They don’t give you the option to replace the card right away. I’ve gotten to that option by:

2.) When they ask for the 19 digit code I press 0 one time and wait…

      Hope that helps my man.

Replacement Pebt card hasn’t arrived. Requested one month ago. Please advise. I’ve been on hold for 30 mins

    • Nick Bryant Post authorReply

Hi Jamie, the best thing I can say is to call them like you are doing. Hour long waits are just the norm with them. I don’t work with the SNAP program so I couldn’t tell you what the hold-up is.

Hopefully, they’ve provided you with an update by now.

I was homeless, I lost my card on 12-3-2021, I have been trying to get a new one since. I did not have a mailing address so on 12-13-2021, I updated the address, can you please tell me why I can not get them to put a lot number on my address, when I go to your tx benefits, it shows the lot #. So I have 438.21 in snap benefits that I can not 8se cause I can’t get the address changed. 211 has attempted to change it, they even have the lor #. For some reason and nobody can tell me why it is only 800-777-7328 that does not have the lot #. Thanks frustrated in Tx

    • Nick Bryant Post authorReply

Hi Teresa, sorry to hear about your situation. Not sure what the solution is. Have you tried calling 877.541.7905 to report the address change?

If you cannot get this resolved via phone or Your Texas Benefits consider calling the Texas Health and Human Services office nearest you and explaining your situation. If there is an office close enough consider visiting. They are currently not accepting walk ins due to the pandemic, but you may get someone to open the door and give you a specific contact of someone inside that can look into your case and make sure your lot number has been updated so that you can get your replacement Texas food stamp card.

Yes but what if you cancel your card and then have to call back with change of address option 2 wont work with out a card #?

    • Nick Bryant Post authorReply

Hi Jason when they ask you to enter that 19 digit number wait five seconds. They will then state a message about transferring you to a live agent. Don’t press anything when they ask for that 19 digit number and eventually they will let you know that they’re transferring you to a live agent.

  6. Obie McCauley Reply

I’ve constantly called that number but I’m not getting anywhere. Is there another way of getting a replacement card?

    • Nick Bryant Post authorReply

When they ask you to enter the 19 digit number wait five seconds and you will hear a message that states they will transfer you to a live agent.

Hi Jefferson, call that Texas EBT customer service number at 800-777-7328. That’s the people who can tell you what happened to your food stamp card. Hope that helps!

I lost my ebt card and I DO NOT KNOW MY EBT 19 CARD NUMBER. I have been calling 800-777-7328 and there is no option to speak with a representative and they keep asking for my ebt number in order to continue. How the hell can I continue if I don’t know my number.

    • Nick Bryant Post authorReply

Wait about 5 seconds after they ask about the 19 digit number. After a 5 second wait they tell you they are transferring you to an agent. I know exactly what you are talking about and its frustrating.

  9. Tanya Reply

Call 18007777328 choose option 1 then option 2 then wait until the operator gives you the option of lost card it takes like 2 min. But it does give you the option once it notices you are not putting in the card number.

I am trying to report my card lost. I am wondering if I could pick up a new card at the local food stamp office

    • Nick Bryant Post authorReply

Hi Heather that would be convenient but you cannot pick up a new food stamp card at a local office. If you are getting a replacement card they will have to mail that to you.

  11. Jason Johnson Reply

So how does one become proficient in SNAP benefits operations and standards to the degree of proficiency necessary to run a help desk..? Can we get a same day replacement at our local branch office? Thanks for any assistance possible.
    Jason A. Johnson

    • Nick Bryant Post authorReply

Yeah, proficiency and government office don’t go together at all. Believe me, I know!

Unfortunately, the only way to get a replacement card is by calling them and reporting it missing, then having them mail you a replacement card. The actual food stamp office can’t provide that service.

There is no option for just a card that won’t work either NONE of the options in Texas lead you to replace a card they only tell you your pin is your responsibility (duh) & to change your pin ! Nothing for a replacement card !! Call 211 in Texas & there are no options for this either !! Nor is there any help online !!! WTH? Also most stores don’t have a clue what to do at the registers especially freaking Walmart where they will argue with you saying it’s not possible to punch in the #s , which is a misinformation to say the least!!!

    • Nick Bryant Post authorReply

That 211 phone tree will have you pulling your hair out! I’ve been there lol.

Don’t waste your time calling 211, that is only for those who are applying for food stamps. Once you get approved and you have issues with your card you call the 800.777.7328 number.

Here is how you can get to the option to replace your Texas food stamp card if that is what you are needing:

They don’t give you the option to replace the card right away. I’ve gotten to that option by:

1.) Pressing 2 when they offer the “Access your card account for balance, transactions or other account information” option.

2.) When they ask for the 19 digit code I press 0 one time and wait…

3.) After pressing 0 they will state “invalid entry, to enter your 19 digit card number press 1 to report your card lost or stolen press 2”. I then press 2 and they proceed to transfer you to a live person.

It’s not a straightforward process but that’s how I get to that option to replace your Texas EBT card.

Try that and see if it works.

Thank you the comments section should be reformatted into the original post or updated IMHO, I think ppl tend to skip comment sections and miss this wealth of useful information. For example I ha emergency food stamps in 2013 I just moved in March 2022 foun found the food stamps card and misplaced it and I just signed up for food stamps in late April early May and I looked everywhere for it and I exacerbated what I thought was a muscle inside of my spine. But I just got my MRI yesterday because I went to two chiropractors within the past three weeks and got two opinions and at the second chiropractor he sent me directly to the emergency room with a write-up and referral to have an MRI to make sure I didn’t have debilitating illness but what I do have is a herniated disc and I haven’t been able to work for weeks I don’t I don’t even know what I’m going to do for rent so the amount of food stamps I have now is not a whole lot and I’ve been trying to get find this card so that I didn’t have to wait 7 days but now with this injury it’s taken like 3 weeks and I just still don’t have any food so thank you so much for posting this helpful information I’m calling again rn

    • Nick Bryant Post authorReply

Thanks for reaching out JJ and for the suggestion on the updates using the comments. Getting in touch with someone can be tricky so I’ll definitely add the information. I had to call a few times to work through the phone tree.

Not sure if you’ve saw the guide about rent assistance in Houston. There is a table you can use to see the nonprofits that help your zip code. Also some basic information about tenant rights and organizations (Lone Star Legal Aid and Houston Apartment Association) that can give you pointers to help you if you get a notice to vacate. Hopefully, it doesn’t come to that, but I just like to be prepared.

Sorry to hear that about your back, hopefully, it is something temporary so you can return to work. In the meantime give me a shout if there are other resources that you are searching for and I’ll let you know of anything I think can help.

      Nick
