San Antonio Childcare Assistance is available through Workforce Solutions Alamo (WSA) Child Care Services (CCS), which provides subsidized childcare assistance to eligible families in the San Antonio area.

While community resources can help, nothing beats having a steady income. The Workforce Alamo childcare subsidies make it so that you can receive help with daycare expenses to allow you to work and advance your career. 

In this guide, I’ll provide information on how to get subsidized childcare in San Antonio through Workforce Solutions Alamo, including eligibility requirements, waitlist application process, available childcare providers, and requirements for childcare services.

What Is Workforce Alamo? 

Workforce Solutions Alamo is a workforce development board that helps job seekers find employment and training opportunities in the Alamo region of Texas. They provide services and resources to job seekers, including resume assistance, job search workshops, training opportunities, and access to job postings.

If you’re looking for employment or need help improving your job search skills, Workforce Solutions Alamo can provide the guidance and resources you need. They can help you create a resume, improve your interviewing skills, and connect you with potential employers.

In addition to employment services, Workforce Solutions Alamo also offers childcare assistance to eligible families through their Child Care Services program. This program provides subsidized childcare assistance to families in need throughout the Alamo region.

Eligibility for San Antonio Childcare Assistance

To be eligible for subsidized childcare through San Antonio Workforce, you must be a resident of one of the following Texas counties in the Alamo region:

  • Atascosa
  • Bandera
  • Bexar
  • Comal
  • Frio
  • Gillespie
  • Guadalupe
  • Kendall
  • Kerr
  • Karnes
  • Medina
  • McMullen
  • Wilson

Additionally, you must answer “yes” to the following three questions:

  1. Are you a single parent working or in training/school at least twenty-five (25) hours per week, or a two-parent household with both parents working or in training/school, at least 50 combined hours per week?
  2. If you do not meet the minimum participation requirements for At-Risk child care initial eligibility, do you qualify for child care while searching for work that will meet the minimum activity requirements?
  3. Is your average gross monthly/yearly income at or below the amounts listed on the chart by family size?

Families who meet the eligibility requirements may apply for the WSA CCS waitlist for subsidized childcare.

Waitlist For Workforce San Antonio Daycare Program

Once you’ve determined your eligibility for San Antonio subsidized childcare, you can apply for the Workforce Solutions Alamo waitlist online (English or Spanish).

The waitlist application will require you to provide personal and income information, as well as information on your childcare needs.

It’s important to note that enrollment in the childcare program is subject to the availability of funds, so eligible families will be waitlisted.

Income Limits For Childcare Assistance In San Antonio

Below are the income limits that you must fall below to receive help paying for daycare in San Antonio.

First, your household size. 

Next, you’ll need to learn where you fall (percentage % wise) on the state median income level. You can use the Fannie Mae AMI calculator to determine this. Or just speak to someone at the San Antonio Workforce office. 

Finally, look for your monthly income, to see where you fall on the chart below. Remember your income must fall below this number in order to receive childcare assistance.

Other Requirements for Child Care Services (CSS San Antonio)

If any of the following situations apply, you may also qualify for Child Care Services (CSS). 

  • You receive TANF or welfare
  • If you are low-income and need help paying for childcare to allow you to attend school, job training, or work. 
  • Teenage mothers in San Antonio who need childcare to attend high school 
  • Low-income families who have children with disabilities
  • If you are considered homeless in San Antonio

You can also walk into the office at 9725 Datapoint Drive, Suite 200, San Antonio, TX to apply for childcare services. 

San Antonio Workforce Office Locations

Below is a map of Workforce Alamo office locations in the San Antonio area. 

Their office hours are Monday-Thursday from 7:45 am – 4:45 pm and Friday from 7:45 am – 4:30 pm. Phones are answered from 8:00 am -4:00 pm, Monday-Friday.

In person, you can visit the WSA CCS office located at 9725 Datapoint, Suite 200, San Antonio, Texas. You may also inquire about subsidized childcare at any one of the Workforce Solutions Alamo Career Centers.
